about

Tom Ball learned "Chopsticks" on the piano aged 5 and has been playing since then. For this album the trio is completed by the fantastically inventive Tristan Maillot on drums and internationally renowned bass player Jeremy Brown. It was recorded on the stunning Steinway Model B grand piano at Red Gables Studios, Middlesex in November 2016 by Dick Hammett.

The eclectic track selection documents some of the trio's broad range of songs, from the great American songbook through to timeless pop and rock tunes. The first half of this album takes well known songs of Oasis, Kings of Leon, Bill Withers and George Michael, and gives them a new lease of life, reharmonised and reimagined as jazz trio explorations. The second half continues with classic standards and jazz originals by the likes of Jobim, Chick Corea and Jason Rebello. The album is rounded off with a pretty ballad, Spring can really hang you up the most, which features Jeremy Brown.
